Pasadena police arrested three juveniles in a case where a car stolen in Altadena was went on a hit-and-run spree, followed by a police pursuit.
The vehicle — a blue Pontiac — was reported in three hit-and-run collisions during the course of the day. Police received a call on the final collision at about 3:55 PM, on the 800 block of Sunset Avenue.

The Altadena Sheriff’s Station is looking for two men who may be involved in a still-mysterious shooting.
According to a press release, deputies responded to a call near the 400 block of Stonehurst Drive on Tuesday, June 22, at 11:25 PM. Witnesses said that two males were observed running from the area. Deputies recovered 9 mm bullet casings and observed blood splatter, but no victims were located.

It’s summer, and time for camps of all kinds. Altadena Stables at 3064 Ridgeview Drive runs a summer camp for young riders. Karin Bugge (the Altadenahiker), a horsewoman herself, shared this picture of the camp in progress.

Westside Altadena residents have complained for years about loud, commercial-grade fireworks illegally firing off in their neighborhoods on July 4. Altadena’s sheriff captain says that he is beefing up patrols and enforcing “zero tolerance” on illegal fireworks, but catching and charging the people involved is “difficult, it’s very difficult.”
Altadena Sheriff Capt. John S. Benedict said that there will be two additional patrol cars out on the evening of July 4,

Fish and Game officers put down a pregnant deer Tuesday at Millard Canyon after she was severely injured by a hiker’s unleashed dog.
Millard Canyon caretaker Lonnie Fehr told Altadenablog that the deer was bitten on the neck and suffered at least one broken leg.

Former Altadena Sheriff Capt. Steven McLean, who retired last year after 32 years in the sheriff’s department, has just been appointed Santa Paula’s police chief, according to news reports.
The Ventura County Star quotes Santa Paula City Manager Jaime Fontes as saying,

We found this lovely lady on Washington and Allen on June 30 in the afternoon. She is clearly someone’s dog because she was well taken care of and very friendly. She was really hot and seemed a bit lost or confused. She jumped on our car window, and when I opened the door, she jumped into our car. It was a very hot day, and we were worried she would get hit by a car because she had been walking in traffic on Washington and Allen.

Beautiful lab found in front of Starbucks at Los Robles on Colorado Blvd July 2 at 10 PM. No tag or i.d. Medium sized black male lab with shiny coat and extremely good disposition. Cat friendly, dog friendly, rabbit friendly, perfect house guest!

Between 7:00 AM and 3:30 PM – A residential vandalism occurred in the 2100 block of Roosevelt Avenue. Suspect(s) shattered a window by using a pellet gun.
3:00 PM – A grand theft occurred in the 3200 block of Mesaloa Av. Suspect(s) retrieved the items from the front porch.

Female calico cat (Black, tan & white) missing since June 5th.
Last seen in her home in East Altadena – on La Paz Road, between Allen Ave & Sinaloa.
Indoor cat – so she obviously got outside.
She is skittish – and will most likely run and hide from people – but is most easily spotted by her markings and a long, very fluffy tail. Her tail is black on one side and white on the other side.

Another sign of Altadena summer: Bulgarini Gelato is starting its Summer Movie Night tomorrow, June 8 with “Johnny Stecchino” (Johnny Toothpick) – a hilarious comedy starring Roberto Benigni and Nicoletta Braschi.

The efforts of Eric Pierce and the folks at AltadenaElection.org paid off with a voter turnout of 543 citizens. The largest turnout was in Census Tract 4603.01, where three candidates were in the race, and the smallest was the uncontested Census Tract 4613.
Ballots were counted at the Altadena Community Center by teams of volunteers who double-checked and in some cases, triple-checked results,

Five Altadena homeowners received the Golden Poppy award from Altadena Heritage on Sunday. The annual awards are given to acknowledge homes that add to the beauty of the Altadena streetscape.

Don’t panic if you see law enforcement vehicles and hear shooting and shouting along Lake and Calavaras Wednesday. The Altadena Sheriff Station, along with other law enforcement agencies, will conduct an “active shooter response drill” at Eliot Middle School on June 12.
“This training will simulate emergency response procedures at the middle school, where law enforcement will respond and take simulated action,” according to a statement from the sheriff’s office.

It’s Altadena Farmer’s Market day at Loma Alta Park! Besides the selection of fruits, vegetables, and prepared treats, it’s also Summer Nights at the Altadena Farmers Market, with musical performer, sitarist Paul Livingstone.
Livingstone, a disciple of Ravi Shankar, is no stranger to Altadena — he performed at the Folly Bowl June 2 with his group, Arohti. Livingstone will be performing from 5-7 PM

The Third Annual Brandon Jackson Scholarship Basketball Shootout takes place at John Muir High School in Pasadena on June 22.
The event raises funds for the Brandon Jackson Memorial Scholarship, which awards college scholarships to local graduating high school seniors.

Hugh Bonar, aka HB3, will perform on Saturday, June 22, at the Folly Bowl, 1601 E. Loma Alta Drive.
Piccolo bassist Bonar will play “a representative sampling of music from his recent albums” in the garden amphitheater.
Tickets are $5, and the concert starts at 7 PM. Bring blankets, a picnic, and prepare to pack it out again (bears!)
