8:50 PM – Christopher Mendoza, 22 years old of Temple City was arrested in the 1200 block of Pleasant Ridge Drive for possession of a controlled substance.

8:37 AM – Joseph Escobedo, 25 years old of Pasadena was arrested at Arco, 1880 N. Lake Avenue for attempted carjacking.
4:50 PM – A residential burglary occurred in the 1700 block of N. Oxford Avenue. Suspect(s) entered the location via unknown means. Property Stolen: laptop, tablet, safe, backpack, personal documents, currency. On-going investigation.
Thursday, December 10th
12:04 AM – A petty theft from an unlocked vehicle occurred in the 200 block of Mountain View Street. Property Stolen: Sony stereo, keys.
12:05 PM – A vehicle was reported stolen in the area of Maiden Lane and Mendocino Street. The vehicle was recovered at 1:30 pm in the 1100 block of Marcheta Street.

LASD – Altadena Sheriff’s Station is holding a Food and Toy Drive i.e. Nonperishable food (Canned items, Pasta, Rice, Etc.) and Toys for age 2 to 12, New and Unwrapped until December 18, 2015.
Items can be dropped off anytime at the Altadena Sheriff’s Station at 780 East Altadena Drive, Altadena.

The Links Kick Off Holiday Season with Sold-Out Holiday Jazz Brunch
The Pasadena-Altadena Chapter of the Links, Incorporated helped kick off the 2015 Holiday Season with a rousing holiday jazz brunch “Christmas with the Links” on Sunday December 6, 2015 in Paseo Colorado’s Noor Ballroom.
The sold-out affair, which raised $30K, featured greetings by Chapter President, Yvonne Hill, followed by a warm welcome from event co-chairs Charmayne Mills-Ealy, Faye Davidson, and Dr. Karen Guinn Radley. Cheryl Myers, chapter Vice President gave a summary of the current initiatives along with highlighting its impact on the local community for the past 52 years.
After shopping several trendy local vendors, and noshing on the superb brunch, guests were enthralled by former chapter scholarship recipient, Morgan Duff Tucker. She gave a heartwarming speech where she recounted how the Links scholarship enabled her to have funds for her personal educational needs while attending and later graduating in 2013 from USC.

Altadena Library District Presents Paying for College: Finandial Aid and Scholarship Workshop
Altadena Library is sponsoring a workshop, Paying for College: Financial Aid and Scholarships, on Monday January 11 at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room.
Affording a college education is a challenge for most families these days. Learn about financial aid and scholarships from the perspective of a college admissions office at our free workshop with Ashley Sim, former admissions officer at Caltech. She will discuss common misconceptions, types of aid available, and questions all parents and students should be asking the financial aid offices of colleges they are considering.
Ashley Sim is an educational consultant who provides individualized academic advising and college and law school admissions counseling to students and parents. A graduate of Stanford University and Harvard Law School, she has worked in college admissions for more than 15 years as an alumni admissions representative of Stanford and as the Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions at the California Institute of Technology. 11:15 AM – A commercial burglary occurred at Renaissance Academy, 1536 E. Mendocino Street. The suspect(s) entered via a window. It is unknown what was stolen. On-going investigation.
Monday, November 30th
12:00 PM – A residential burglary occurred in the 3100 block of Lincoln Avenue. The suspect(s) entered the residence by cutting a window screen. US currency was stolen. On-going investigation.
8:30 PM – A vehicle vandalism occurred in the 2100 block of Raymond Avenue. The vehicle window was shattered.
Tuesday, December 1st
9:56 AM – An assault with a deadly weapon (firearm) occurred in the 2100 block of N. Marengo Avenue. The investigation is on-going.
11:45 AM – A residential burglary occurred in the 1500 block of Meadowbrook Road. The suspect(s) entered the residence via an unsecured sliding door. A gold necklace and a gold watch were stolen. On-going investigation.
5:30 PM – Kevin Whitaker, 25 years old of Pasadena was arrested in the area of Lake Avenue and Boston Street for possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle.

Altadena Public Library Presents the Return of the Emmy Award Winning Music Artist Gerry Rothschild/Gerry Rothschild Band
On Saturday, January 9, at 6:30 p.m., the Altadena Library District presents Gerry Rothschild as its musical artist for January’s Second Saturday. Gerry Rothschild band is a custom band that is proficient in a wide variety of musical styles that vary from Fats Waller in the 1920’s to Bruno Mars and everything in between.
Gerry is an accomplished musician who has appeared and performed at major festivals and events including The Rose Bowl, The Playboy Jazz Festival and the “Fete Americaine” in Geneva, Switzerland.
Gerry has composed, edited, performed, and recorded music for many hit television series including Friends, Drew Carey, Dream On and The George Lopez Show.
He has won “The Knot” magazines Best of Wedding three years in a row and has played for The Milken Institute, Boeing Inc., and Technip Corp., among others, in the corporate world.
The Gerry Rothschild Band was our most popular music event in 2014 and we are very excited to bring them back to the library and the community in 2016!

Two Men Detained After Quick Thinking Neighbor Heard Glass Breaking and Saw Men Leaving Their Neighbor’s House
Today at approximately 2:15 p.m. a call came into to the Altadena Sheriff’s Station for the sound of glass breaking and possibly 3 males running from a house near Las Flores Dr. And Glenrose, in Altadena. Deputies raced to the area and a deputy saw a black vehicle stopped and 2 males running away. The males appears to be involved in the break in, and with the help of a Sheriff’s helicopter and units from La Canada, 2 males were detained, pending an investigation for residential burglary.

10:30 PM – A petty theft from an unlocked vehicle occurred in the 400 block of Concha Street. Property stolen was a black Garmin GPS.
Wednesday, November 25th
9:45 AM – A vehicle was reported stolen from the 3200 block of Summit Avenue. The stolen vehicle was a gold 1993 Honda Accord 4-door. *Vehicle was recovered on 11/28/2015 in the city of Baldwin Park by California Highway Patrol.
9:47 AM – A vehicle was reported stolen from the 300 block of Parkman Street. The stolen vehicle was a green 1993 Nissan Pathfinder. *Vehicle was recovered on 11/28/2015 in the 3500 block of Hollyslope Road.

Assembly Majority Floor Leader Chris Holden Announces Availability of Assembly Fellowship Program Applications
Assembly Majority Floor Leader Chris Holden (AD – 41) today announced the availability of applications for the 2016-2017 Jesse Marvin Unruh Assembly Fellowship Program.
The Assembly Fellowship Program provides the opportunity for aspiring public servants of all ages, background and experiences to directly participate in the legislative process. The 11–month fellowship provides an introduction to public policy formation and adoption through full-time work as professional staff in the Assembly.
“The Assembly Fellowship Program offers college graduates the unique opportunity to learn and craft public policy through hands-on work with elected officials and staff,” said Assembly Majority Floor Leader Holden. “The program provides a challenging, professional work experience that serves as the foundation for successful careers in both the public and private sectors.”
