State Treasurer Appoints Darrell Park to the California Clean Energy Jobs Act (Proposition 39) Citizens Oversight Board

State Treasurer Appoints Darrell Park to the California Clean Energy Jobs Act (Proposition 39) Citizens Oversight Board

California Treasurer Fiona Ma has appointed Darrell Park of Altadena to the California Clean Energy Jobs Act (Proposition 39) Citizens Oversight Board.

“I am thankful for Darrell’s commitment to serve on this important board,” said Treasurer Ma. “He is among the best in his field and the State will be much better for his contribution.”

The California Clean Energy Jobs Act provides up to $550 million per year for renewable energy and energy efficiency technology installations in K-12 public schools and community colleges. The institutions may then spend the savings realized through substantially reducing their electricity bills on investments in their students, teachers and staff.

The role of the California Clean Energy jobs Act (proposition 39) – Citizens Oversight Board is to ensure funds are spent with maximum effectiveness.

“This board is on the cutting edge of the conversion of the state’s conversion to renewable sources,” Mr. Park said. “I look forward to contributing my experience to the thoughtful stewardship of Prop 39 resources.”

Mr.

Advisory: Request to Paint House Numbers on Your Curb May be a Scam

Advisory: Request to Paint House Numbers on Your Curb May be a Scam

Today you notice a note or envelope on your door telling you your curb is going to be painted. There may be language that makes it appear to be sent from LA Co. Public works. All you have to do is fork over a $20 donation.

Residents could feel pressured into putting money on the front door, which is obviously not safe anyway.

Is it a scam? Maybe. Do you have to comply? ABSOLUTELY NOT!!

In Los Angeles County the painter has to get prior approval for any literature they plan to hand out and obtain a permit to solicit door to door in L.A. County. Ask where the money is going. If it’s for charity, they’re required to have information about the organization and in most cases their non-profit information.

The person will need to have your approval before doing any work on your property. If you ignore them / don’t respond and they paint your curb with shiny new numbers,

California Highway Patrol Sobriety/Driver License Checkpoint

California Highway Patrol Sobriety/Driver License Checkpoint

The Altadena Area office of the California Highway Patrol (CHP) will conduct a sobriety/driver license checkpoint on Friday, March 8th, 2019, within the unincorporated area of Altadena.

“We would like to remind everyone to drink responsibly and to designate a sober driver. Driving while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs is dangerous to everybody on the roadways and has cost the lives of too many people,” said Captain Tai Vong, Altadena Area Commander. The goal of the CHP is to ensure the highest level of safety, service and security to the people of California. Sobriety/Driver license checkpoints are proven, effective tools for accomplishing this goal and are designed to augment existing patrols.

Unfortunately, we see an increase in the number of arrests and traffic collisions involving drivers under the influence during the summer. The California Highway Patrol will be diligently looking for DUI drivers, whether it be drugs and or alcohol. Be responsible; designate a sober driver. The objective is to send a clear message to those individuals considering to mixing alcohol or drugs and/or drive when unlicensed.
