Sample the Pasadena Senior Center this spring

Every spring the Pasadena Senior Center offers a full lineup of classes for people 50 and older ranging from art and computers to language and Zumba.Some classes are offered evenings and Saturdays to accommodate working seniors.

As the registration period for spring classes approaches, anyone can sample the most popular classes for free by attending half-hour sessions, meeting the instructors, learning more about the courses and trying them out

All sample classes, also known as Class Tasting, take place at the Pasadena Senior Center, 85 E. Holly St.

Monday, April 13

9 to 9:30 a.m. – Beginner Tai Chi, West Pavilion

9 to 9:30 a.m. – International Folk Dance, East Pavilion

9:30 to 10 a.m. – Advanced Tai Chi, West Pavilion

9:30 to 10 a.m. – Alexander Technique, East Pavilion

9:30 to 10 a.m. – Meditation and Relaxation, Community Room

10 to 10:30 a.m. – Yoga (evening class), West Pavilion

10 to 10:30 a.m. – French I, II and III, Community Room

10 to 10:30 a.m. – Eating for Vitality, North Conference Room

10:30 to 11 a.m. – Learn Spanish Through Acting, Community Room

10:30 to 11 a.m. – Arthritis Exercises, West Pavilion

11 to 11:30 a.m. – Chair Tai Chi, Dance Studio

11 a.m. to noon – Beginner/Advanced Beginner Computers, Computer Lab

11:30 a.m. to noon – The Art and Fun of Sewing, Cliff Benedict Room

11:30 to noon – Stone Meditation, Community Room

11:30 a.m. to noon – Yoga (Saturday class), Dance Studio

11:30 a.m. to noon – Swing Dance, West Pavilion

 

Tuesday, April 14

9 to 9:30 a.m. – Pep Up Your Life, Dance Studio

9 to 9:30 a.m. – Pilates, West Pavilion

9:30 to 10 a.m. – Bellyfit Sage, West Pavilion

10 to 10:30 a.m. – Tap, Dance Studio

10 to 10:30 a.m. – Zumba Gold, West Pavilion

10 to 10:30 a.m. – Watercolor Classes, Cliff Benedict Room

10:30 to 11 a.m. – Ballet Folklorico, West Pavilion

10:30 to 11 a.m. – The Internet, Computer Lab

11 to 11:30 a.m. – Creative Writing, Community Room

11 to 11:30 a.m. – Music for Wellness, West Pavilion

11:30 a.m. to noon – Yoga (morning class), West Pavilion

11:30 a.m. to noon – English Conversation, Community Room

Spotlight on New Classes

Eating for Vitality teaches simple ways to eat healthy foods to increase energy, reduce stress and improve your mood. Learn how nutritional stress affects your life, the benefits of alkaline vs. acidic foods, inflammation-fighting foods, the function of probiotics, superfoods and digestive, heart and brain healthy choices.

Bellyfit Sage is a holistic fitness class for women that combines easy-to-learn cardio moves of belly dance, East Indian, Polynesian and African dance with the sculpting and toning of a Pilates-inspired, seated core workout and deep, relaxing, Yoga-inspired stretching and meditation.

Swing Dance Solo Routine features the most popular solo routines danced today on social dance floors. Take this class along with the beginner or intermediate swing class or just by itself. Experience is not necessary.

After sampling classes for free April 13 and 14, register at www.pasadenaseniorcenter.org (click on Classes and Lectures) or pick up a registration form at the Welcome Desk at the Pasadena Senior Center. Registration deadline is Friday, April 17.

Most classes range from $15 to $70 for Pasadena Senior Center members. Scholarships for low-income seniors are available on a limited basis.

The Pasadena Senior Center is an independent nonprofit agency that offers recreational, educational, wellness and social services to people ages 50 and over in a friendly environment. Services are also provided for frail, low-income and homebound seniors.
