The Rite-Aid drug store at 735 E. Altadena Drive is going through a long-needed facelift, and a spokeswoman says it’s because they are changing their emphasis to become a “wellness store.”

Kristin Kellum of Rite-Aid said in an email that “The store is currently undergoing a wellness store remodel. Beginning with the exterior, the building is undergoing changes to its façade, landscape and parking lot.  In about eight weeks, remodeling of the interior will begin  …

“Once construction is completed, the store… will feature hundreds of new health and wellness products including organic and/or gluten-free foods, on-site Wellness Ambassadors, an expanded caregiver section, all-natural personal care and home care products, Thrifty’s Ice Cream, fitness and workout equipment and a bigger wellness magazine and book section. The store also features a private pharmacist consultation room for advanced clinical services.”

The store will remain open through the remodel, which should be completed in October, Kellum said.
