BLACK HISTORY MONTH

” Something’s Coming—-Something Good!”

from gloriana casey

The Summer of 2016————
in Washington D. C.,
Museum new will open doors;
we need this history!All nations have some history,
they might prefer to hide;
but truly nations lose their heart
when Truth is locked inside.

The National Museum of
African American
History and Culture—– it will tell
stories of woman and man.

From Diaspora through today
as these are truths to share.
The north,south, east and west of it——-
history is everywhere!

From Art and Culture———-well known names,
like Apollo Theatre,
The first black poet—-Phyllis Wheatley,
be a poet reader!

1773 the year,
some doubted Phyllis’ skill,
so John Hancock and friends, stood up:
She wrote! Doubters! Be still!

Legion of Honor– World War One;
Eugene Bullard, pilot.
The French they gave him wings to fly;
U.S.——you denied it.

For Opportunity’s the key———
as role models will show!
For truly success must be sung——–
or how will people know?

While well known names abound for sure,
so many small and dear.
Through history, their names unheard;
your help is needed here!

The arts and treasures of those lives
Museum has to share.
So wide the impact of unknowns,
displayed with loving care.

For wide the arc of history
from Africa to here.
Building design is Yoruban felt
with crown design so clear.

Then go and see, click on the site,
there’s video to see!
Next to Washington Monument,
Museum——-it will be!

So take a look and can you help
to spread the history wide?
Something’s coming —–it’s something good,
so take a peek inside!
