Caltech scientist dies: Altadena resident Paul H. Patterson, a pioneering neuroscientist at Caltech, died June 25, 2014. Patterson is best known for studying the biological and immunological aspects of autism in animals, and developed the MD/Ph.D program at Caltech.  Adam Poulisse at PSN has an obit. 

Meshach Taylor: Another Altadena resident, Meshach Taylor, died Saturday night, June 28.  Taylor was best known for his role on the TV program Designing Women, as well as his role in the film Mannequin.  Taylor was 67. USA Today has an obit.
