Little Greene houses: We are big fans of the brothers Greene, the iconic Craftsman architects who are all over Pasadena (think: Gamble House, the Prospect Park neighborhood). This week’s Altadena Historical Society blog post by Jane Brackman looks at their substantial legacy in Altadena, which not only includes homes built here, a home built in Pasadena and moved to Altadena, Wildwood Park, and more. Fun fact: Henry Greene was living with his son’s family on La Solana at the time of his death. A fascinating history for architecture buffs (like us!)
MonteCedro financing: Specialty bank Ziegler just closed on $140 million of bonds to finance MonteCedro, the senior living community now under construction on Calvaras west of Lake Avenue. Insurance News Net has all the details.
E-waste roundup: This Saturday, June 28, there will be an e-waste collection at the Savik Branch of the Boys & Girls Club, 3230 E. Del Mar Blvd. in Pasadena. Recyclable items include: computers, monitors, televisions, cell phones, MP3 players, printers ink cartridges, microwaves, cables, wires, laptops, and all electronics. For more information, please call (626) 449-9100.
