Morning jolt: June 23, 2014

There’s a certain unity today, as we celebrate three of our favorite Altadena photographers:

Hearts on fire: with the fire continuing in Glendale today, it’s important to remember that we’re also coming up on the anniversary of the death of the Granite Mountain Hotshots in Arizona on June 30.  Sarah Allegra lost a childhood friend in the tragic blaze, and her blog features some of her lovely, myth-tinged pictures inspired by the loss.

A moment, frozen:  Another of our favorite Altadena photogs, Ibarionex Perello, has a great picture on his tumblr of the folk art/found art Fotobuster booth at the Rite Aid complex on Altadena Drive and Lake Avenue.  If you haven’t seen this bizarre piece of local art, check it out — they’re refurbishing the Rite Aid, so who knows what will become of this?

Szabo, solo:  The Los Angeles Center for Digital Art will feature Jane Szabo in a new show, “Sense of Self,” which runs July 10-August 30, 2014. Jane says it’s her first solo show, so hooray!  There will be a reception on July 10 from 7-9 PM, and a second reception in conjunction with the LA Art Walk on Aug. 14 at the same hours.  All at 104 E. Fourth Street, Los Angeles.
