The Independence Day holiday is coming up, and here’s an early rundown of what to expect:

  • Fireworks are illegal in Altadena and other county areas and the Altadena Sheriff’s Station has said that there will be zero tolerance for them. Deputies will be out in force on July 4 to enforce it. Instead, enjoy a professional fireworks show.
  • And the professional shows begin on July 2 with the early show at the Altadena Town & Country Club.  Fireworks should be visible throughout the east side of town, and will begin around 9:30 PM.
  • On July 4, there are at least two neighborhood parades going on (at Pepper Drive and Sonoma Drive) at 10 AM.  If you’ve got a neighborhood activity, let us know about it! Email: editor@altadenapoint.com.
  • Many nearby cities will have fireworks displays, including San Marino, South Pasadena, and of course Americafest at the Rose Bowl.  Details here: http://www.rosebowlstadium.com/events/americafest
