“In Relation” fundraiser/dinner party Aug. 9

In Relation (www.inrelation.org), described as “a group of artists and filmmakers that utilize their knowledge of creative mediums to promote positive change,” will be holding a fundraiser dinner party on Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014,to support their artist team’s travels to Kenya.

The event, described as a “creative cross-cultural experience of all senses,” includes food, cocktails, wine, coffee, and sweets from several local chefs and providers.

Entertainment will include African-inspired music and drum circles, African dance, fire spinning, and a creative presentation by the In Relation team of artists.

The Kenyan trip, to be accompanied by local artist and native Kenyan Ngene Mwaura, plans to “feature Kenyan artists in portraits, explore traditional life of the Maasai, paint large scale permanent murals in Nairobi, and host community gatherings involving dance, music, and healing arts. The artists are teaming up with Nairobi arts organizations, Kuona Trust and Go Down Arts, a Nairobi college, Evelyn College of Design, and nonprofits, Creative Visions Foundation and Build.Create.Kenya.”

Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door, with a suggested donation at each chef stand.  Tickets can be purchased at https://www.artful.ly/store/events/3706

The event will be held at “The Manor,” 466 E. Mariposa Street, Altadena, on Sat., Aug. 9, 2014, from 6 PM-12 AM.
