Hoopla! An Emporium of Good Things is at 2591 Fair Oaks Ave. in Altadena.

Hoopla Emporium (formerly Webster’s Fine Stationers) is celebrating their first year anniversary at their new address on 2591 Fair Oaks Avenue in beautiful Altadena! Join us for a very special party on Friday, March 20 and Saturday, March 21!

Friday’s festivities will begin at 3:00 pm with a visit from Olimila Gourmet Emporium, a local vendor of organic olive oils, balsamic vinegars, and delectable condiments. Learn the benefits of olive oil, and taste the California sunshine in their products! The party continues at 4:00 with local author Anne Louise Bannon, as she introduces her newest novel, “Fascinating Rhythm”, a murder mystery set in the roaring ’20s. She’ll be joined by her husband, Michael Holland, at 6:30 pm, and we’ll be treated to a very special wine tasting with delicious snacks provided by Altadena movers and shakers, Pizza Of Venice!

On Saturday the 21st, Hoopla Emporium welcomes Sashee Chandran of Tea Drops at 1:00 pm. Sample her delicious, bagless teas, and join us for a tea party, catered by Lauren’s Lunches, at 3:00 pm! Tea sandwiches, scones, shortbreads, oh my! Local author and superstar Ellen Snortland will be here at 1:00 pm to showcase her new book, “The Safety Godmothers”. Learn valuable personal safety tips and why it’s so important to teach personal self-defense to our youngsters. This is a book that might save a loved one’s life – or yours! – be sure to be here! At 3:00 pm, we welcome another local author, Ontresicia Averette, as she discusses her book, Broken Spirits, A Letter To My Cousin Rodney King. A touching memorial to her cousin, this book is also a chronicle of how standing by his side throughout the beating and subsequent trials affected her life. You won’t want to miss her tale of discrimination, injustice, and ultimately, hope for the future!

Other surprises await – there’s too much going on to list here, so save the dates and we’ll see you at Hoopla! Emporium, where we bring local to you every day! Don’t forget to enter to win a gift basket chock full of Good Things – you can email shopathoopla@gmail.com prior to the event to do so! Winners will be announced Saturday afternoon.
