The fourth annual Brandon Jackson Memorial Scholarship Basketball Shoot-Out will be held at John Muir High School this year, on June 21, 2014, from 8 AM-8 PM. Admission is $5 for all day and all games.
This annual event seeks to turn heartache into hope for the young people of our community. “Since Brandon’s murder in 2011, we have awarded over $25,000 in scholarships to local college-bound high school students,” according to Coach David Williams of Team Pasadena Basketball and one of the event organizers.
The basketball event welcomes local high school, community, church and travel teams. This year, John Muir High School, Pasadena High School, La Salle High School, Arcadia High School, the La Canada Spartans, Victory Bible Church and Team Pasadena are just a few of the teams that promise an exciting day of competitive games.
“So many remarkable young people apply for the scholarships; it’s getting harder each year to make a decision,” said Debra Williams,” Director of the annual event. “The more money we raise, the more money we give. Over 90% of the funds raised go directly to the students each year so we encourage the community to give generously”
Tax-deductible donations can be made out to The Brandon Jackson Memorial Scholarship and mailed to:
