While it’s still not ready to open the store, the Arroyo Food Co-op is ready for customers — online.
The member-owned grocery store has launched an online pre-order program for members, where members can purchase a range of products online and pick them up at the store at 494 N. Wilson Avenue in Pasadena.
The co-op offers a range of grocery, household, and personal care items for pre-order.
The pre-order program, which was approved by the membership last year, will provide the Co-op with a source of income while it continues to raise funds to open a full-scale grocery store at the Pasadena site.
According to a press release from the co-op:
Among the items offered for sale are canned soups, bulk nuts, grains and beans, pastas and pasta sauce, baking items, coffee and tea, organic and gluten-free items, grain beverages, shampoos and conditioners, facial cleansers and moisturizers, toilet paper, and household cleaning products. All items can be ordered in quantity (i.e. by the case), and in most other instances, they can be ordered individually or as a split case.
“This is an exciting time for the Co-op as we can now offer quality products to our members,” said Joy Lam, operations manager for the Co-op, in the press release. “We will continue to roll out product selections that are healthy, affordable, good for your family and for the earth, and we invite the community to share their ideas and inspiration with us and join us to transform our store into a space for community building.”
Patrons need to be Arroyo Food Co-op members to place an order, with a minimum order of $25. Full investment in the Co-op is $300, but a payment plan of $30 per year is available.
The deadline to place orders each week is midnight on Sunday, with pick up times on Tuesday frp, 4-7 PM and Saturday from 9 AM-noon.
