About 75 practicing and wanna-be urban homesteaders gathered together at the Altadena Public Library on Saturday, June 28, to share information about growing food and raising livestock in the urban environment.

Sponsored by Meredith McKenzie (AltadenaPoint sponsor), the event featured speakers who talked about urban farming, green living, and raising livestock in a suburban setting, including chickens, goats, and bees.

There were also tables with information that included water conservation and composting, and local organizations that touched on homesteading values, including the Arroyo Time Bank, the Arroyo Food Co-op, and Repair Café.
