“Altadena Then & Now” shows at Webster’s Saturday

The Altadena Historical Society and Webster’s Community Pharmacy will hold an open house celebrating the “Altadena Then and Now” photo exhibition at the pharmacy, 2450 N. Lake Avenue.

 

Twenty vintage photos by Leon Ricks and 20 duplicates of the scenes today are displayed will be displayed through July 20, 2015, in the gallery corridor at the pharmacy.

The photos come from the collection of Leon Ricks, an eccentric Altadena resident who obsessively photographed local buildings, intersections streets, and scenes.  They will be exhibited beside modern photographs of the same subjects taken by director and photographer Ron Holcombe.

“He photographed everything from the most mundane traffic intersections to significant events such as fires and floods,” said Jane Brackman, president of the Altadena Historical Society.  said.  “He also photographed old buildings, especially those about to be demolished, and followed everything happening in the community, such as the annual Old-Fashioned Days parades.”

The open house will be held from noon to 4 PM, with complimentary refreshments from the Park Bench Grill.
