After his appearance on Good Morning America Monday, he was on the George Lopez show last night (George Lopez voiced “Papi,” the Beverly Hills Chihuahua, but you knew that!)

The 2011 Angeles Crest 100 Mile Endurance Run from Wrightwood to Altadena takes place this weekend.
Runners will start at about 5 AM at the Community Building in Wrightwood on Saturday, and take the Angeles Crest Trail all the way to Loma Alta Park to arrive Sunday. The race stops at 2 PM Sunday in Loma Alta Park, altho’ runners are expected to continue coming in well into the afternoon,

Help thwart identity theft by bringing your documents to be shredded at the Altadena Sheriff Station’s community event on Sat., Aug. 6
Altadena Station is hosting its first “Community in the Park” event that day at at Charles White Park, 77 Mountain View St., 1-4 PM. As part of the festivities, Shred-it, a document destruction firm, is offering to shred the papers you don’t need anymore.

Dominic Grossman was the first runner to cross the finish line at Loma Alta Park at 1:20 AM this morning in the Angeles Crest 100 Mile Endurance Run which started at Wrightwood Saturday morning.
Grossman had a decisive lead, as the next runner, Ruperto Romero, didn’t come in until 2:37 AM.
Paulette Zillmer, the first woman over the finish, came in 7th place at 4:47 AM.

Friday night [July1] – my wife and son were reading in a back bedroom which leads to our backyard. They looked through the window, which had blinds two-thirds closed, and saw an unfamiliar pair of sneakers on somebody who was on our deck.

SoCal Edson says that there's been an equpment problem that's knocked out power to several neighborhoods since about 4:30 this afternoon. We've had reports of power out at Crest Drive, but don't have good boundaries yet. As of about 10 PM tonight, it's still going on.

It’ll soon be forbidden to park your car with a “For Sale” sign on certain streets in Altadena and elsewhere in the county.
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved an ordinance Tuesday restricting parking on certain streets where parking “for sale” cars has become a nuisance. The ordinance, to take effect within 30 days, calls for the cars to be ticketed first.

Altadena Sheriff Lt. Marjory Jacobs said that there was a call about an armed robbery at Ace Smoke Shop, 2501 N Lake Ave., at 7:44 PM tonight (Thursday).
Suspects were described as two black male juveniles, who took about $200 in cash.

Jamie Bissner emails us that his neighbor at the 2200 block of Maiden Lane went out for a smoke at about 2 AM Tues., July 5, and “made eye contact with a big cat laying in the garden at his door step. The cougar then shot up the palm tree eight feet away, thought better and ran off. About 100 pounds he figures.”

Altadena sheriffs are still looking for two suspects in the armed robbery of Ace’s Smoke Shop last night on the 2500 block of Lake Ave.
According to Sheriff Lt. Joe Dempsey, witnesses have identified the suspects as two male Latinos. Initial reports said that the robbers were African American. The suspects were wearing masks while robbing the shop, but shed the masks in front of witnesses while making their escape.

Los Angeles County has scheduled two public meetings this month to answer questions and provide information about Altadena’s new trash collection plan.
According to a letter mailed out to residents this week by the county Dept. of Public Works, the meetings will be Wed., July 20, from 7-8:30 PM, and Sat., July 23, from 10-11:30 AM. Both meetings will be held at the Altadena Community Center,

There was a fairly massive flyover of vintage aircraft, some flying in formation, in the south apparently over Pasadena, lasting from about 5:50-6 PM. We're throwing it out to our aviation fans in hopes they'll give us an answer!

The Irish Volunteers opened up the Sheriff Support Group of Altadena’s 15th annual Summer Concert Series, with an appreciative and larger-than-usual crowd for opening day at Farnsworth Park. The Irish Pride Dancers, like the young lady pictured, also performed in a show with something for the whole family. More pictures after the jump.

The July 16 Sheriff Support Group Summer Concert at Farnsworth Park will be the Down Beat Express Big Band with vocalist Jennifer Gates and trumpeter Paul Cacia, directed by Pat Emmett. Show starts at 7 PM, and admission is free.
The Down Beat Express was founded nearly 30 years ago by Pasadena area saxophonist Safford Chamberlain. A year or so later Safford passed the baton to Pat Emmett and the rest is a long swingin’ history of concerts,

Received a notice from the Altadena Sheriff station that calls are continuing about sightings of a prowler in the President Streets neighborhood. In the past two weeks, the Sheriff’s Department has received several calls regarding a prowler in the 1300 and 1400 block of Coolidge Avenue. The suspect has been described as a male African American, approximately 20 years old, 6 feet tall, thin build, with an afro, wearing all black clothing. The suspect has been seen in the back yard of several residents in the evening hours.

Villa Esperanza Services will hold a block party to celebrate its 50th anniversary on Sat., July 16 from 3-7 PM at the 2100 block of East Villa St., Pasadena
There will be music, live entertainment, dancing, a kid’s zone and a beer garden. $5 admission includes five activity tickets, and children five years and under are free.

Altadena Congregations Together Serving (ACTS) is holding a series of salad suppers in July and August to look at “Building Community: How Are We Called to Action?” Please bring a vegetarian dsh to share: appetizers, main dishes, fruits, salads, desserts, etc.
