Below are three pages of crime stats from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The first page shows you the overall view of how Altadena compares with all of the Sheriff’s Stations in Los Angeles County for 2011 through June 30. In addition, this page gives you a comparison with the same period of time for 2006 and 2010. Please note that once again, Altadena showed the greatest decrease of any Sheriff’s Station in Los Angeles County in Part I crimes, with a reduction year to date of 36.1%.
The second page details just Altadena and its Part I crime statistics up to June 30, 2011, as well as the comparison with 2006 and 2010 for the same period. There are some things worth noting. First, reported Rapes have increased by 151.1%. It is important to note that the alleged rape suspects were a person known to the victim according to Lt. Joseph Dempsey of Altadena Detective Bureau. There is no serial rapist on the loose in Altadena.
Also of note on the second page is the reduction by 45.72% of burglaries over the same period last year, and the reduction by 39.76% of Larceny-Theft crimes over the same period last year.
The third page shows that while reported rapes have increased over the same period last year, all other violent crimes have decreased by as much as 21.5% over the same period last year, and all line items in the Property Crimes report have decreased over the same period last year with the greatest reductions noted above for burglaries and larceny-theft.
