• The Board of Supervisors will hold an appeal on the proposed cell phone tower at 147 E. Loma Alta Drive — it was approved by regional planning, but several neighbors mounted objections to it, and the Supervisors will adjudicate it at next week’s meeting, which will be Tues., June 28,  at 500 W. Temple, Room 381 B, starting at 9:30 AM.
• Athens Services will begin its public outreach on the new trash hauling contract at the next Town Council meeting,

  The Altadena Town Council will ask the Pasadena City Council to reconsider opening up a field to store silt excavated during a planned partial cleanout of the Hahamongna Watershed.

A county plan to remove all silt from the watershed — a several year and several thousand truckload project — has been held up for at least a year pending an environmental impact report.

The Altadena Town Council tabled a motion to endorse a sign on the bridge at Altadena Drive and New York Drive that would commemorate 9/11.

John McDannel, a Kinneloa Mesa resident, former military pilot and retired pilot for United Airlines, has embarked on a several-year crusade to turn the stretch of New York Drive between Altadena Drive and Sierra Madre Boulevard into a tribute to the victims of 9/11.  

And at  7 PM, the film will be Hitchock’s “The 39 Steps,” starting at 7 PM.  All ages welcome.

The school — which closed this week due to budget cuts — is proposed to be the site of a grab-bag of school district programs.  An earlier meeting was called on very short notice, and earned some harsh remarks from members of the community. 

Things got a little testy at Tuesday night's town council meeting when a resident and Sheriff Capt. Steven McLean went head-to-head about allegations of police abuse.

Ryan Eggers, who identified himself as an engineer on the Mars Rover project for JPL, said he felt "compelled to address police misconduct and abuse."

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved a roadway resurfacing and reconstruction project on Tuesday for Altadena, East Pasadena, and California Boulevard in Pasadena, according to a release from Supv. Michael D. Antonovich.

Among the streets that will see work are Altadena Drive from Washington Boulevard north to New York Drive, and New York Drive from Valencia Avenue east to Eaton Wash Channel.

The Sheriff’s Support Group of Altadena (SSGA) has announced the lineup for the 15th annual free Summer Concerts in the beautiful Farnsworth Park’s outdoor Amphitheater, 568 E. Mt. Curve Ave., Altadena. All concerts start at 7:00 PM.
