In a rapid move, the Pasadena Unified School District will hold a community meeting to discuss the future of Burbank Elementary School the day before the school board is scheduled to vote on that future.

The school district has scheduled a community meeting for June 13 at Burbank Elementary School,  2046 N. Allen Ave, at 7 PM to discuss proposed uses for the school campus in the coming school year.

The following day, Tues., June 14, the school board is to vote on what the final uses will be, and it will likely be for multiple school district programs.

Burbank, along with Loma Alta Elementary School, are slated to close at the end of  the school year this month.  With Loma Alta likely to house a charter school next year, the Los Angeles Universal Preschool, now at Loma Alta, will likely move to Burbank.   Other uses being circulated for the Burbank site are moving the early learning program and clinics now housed at Hodges Children’s Center, and the Pasadena Mental Health Center — or all of them.

One of  the main issues facing the neighborhood is inadequate parking for staff and clients if these programs are moved to Burbank.  If the school district decides to move these programs to the Burbank site, neighbors can expect a summer of construction activity in July and August when school is out.
