Expos, Puppets and a “Scream” Convention Fill Pasadena’s Saturday, October 3

A free K-12 education expo, a “Scream” fan convention and the final Saturday of “The Visit” are among the events in Pasadena on Saturday, Oct. 3.
The Black Education Expo runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the lower level of the Conference Center at the Pasadena Convention Center, 300 E. Green St. Admission is free, and organizers ask attendees to register for a free ticket at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/celebrate-at-the-black-education-expo-k-12-ages-5-18-tickets-1984582829667. Parking is paid.
The American Heart Association’s Greater Los Angeles Heart and Stroke Walk steps off at 8:45 a.m. at the Rose Bowl, 1001 Rose Bowl Drive.
Pasadena Public Works and LA Compost host a community composting session from 8 a.m. to noon at the Victory Park Compost Hub, 2575 Paloma St. Residents can pick up a free kitchen pail for food scraps while supplies last, the department said.
Senior Expo USA holds a free expo for older adults and their families from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. It takes place in the Campus Center at Pasadena City College, 1570 E. Colorado Blvd. Health screenings are planned, along with exhibitors covering Medicare coverage, assisted and independent living, home care and legal assistance, the organizer said.
Bob Baker Marionette Theater stages two free performances of “Hallowe’en Spooktacular” at One Colorado between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., according to the theater.
Kidspace Children’s Museum, 480 N. Arroyo Blvd., presents a LEGO Monster Build with LEGOLAND on Saturday and Sunday, included with museum admission.
Return to Woodsboro, a fan-organized convention marking 30 years of the “Scream” films, runs Friday through Sunday at the Pasadena Convention Center. Saturday hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday general admission is $65.
Pasadena Playhouse performs “The Visit” at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. at 39 S. El Molino Ave. The production, directed by Darko Tresnjak and starring Jefferson Mays, closes Sunday, Oct. 4. Tickets start at $40, and the production includes haze, flashing lights and prop guns, according to the Playhouse.
The Boys & Girls Club of Pasadena holds its annual Black Tie & Burgers fundraiser at the Raymond Theatre.
The Pasadena Folk Music Society presents singer-songwriter Sarah McQuaid at 7:30 p.m. at Knox Presbyterian Church, 225 S. Hill Ave. Tickets are $33.85 for adults and $12.51 for Caltech students and youth through high school, including fees.
