Forecast Prompts Numerous Events Cancellations

The prospect of a significant storm system bringing heavy rainfall to the Pasadena and Altadena area on Saturday has prompted the cancellation or postponement of multiple community events, with organizers citing safety concerns and dangerous weather conditions.
Armenian Festival Postponed Until Spring 2026
The 2nd Annual Pasadena Armenian Festival, scheduled for Saturday at Centennial Plaza in front of Pasadena City Hall from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., has been postponed until Spring 2026. Organizers announced the decision Thursday, citing concern for attendee safety and logistical complications posed by inclement weather.
The free outdoor event had been expected to draw hundreds for cultural performances, Armenian food, vendors, dance performances, live music, and family activities celebrating the deep cultural roots and contributions of Pasadena’s Armenian community. Organizers said they are considering rescheduling the festival in the spring, though no new date has been confirmed.
Mariposa Junction Reopening Celebration Rescheduled
The “Rising Together” celebration marking the grand reopening of five small businesses in Altadena’s historic Mariposa Street corridor has been postponed from Saturday, November 15, to Saturday, November 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 2455 Lake Avenue.
The Altadena Chamber of Commerce announced Thursday that the date change is the only adjustment to the program, which will feature food, music, and family activities. The event celebrates businesses returning after rebuilding from the Eaton Fire in January, including Betsy’s Restaurant, McGinty’s Gallery at the End of the World, Sidecca, Carciofi Design Paper Boutique & Studio, and Ms. Dragon Print & Copy.
Adaptive Sports Festival Moves Indoors to Villa Parke
The 7th Annual Pasadena Adaptive Sports Festival will proceed as scheduled on Saturday, November 15, but has been relocated indoors to Villa Parke Community Center at 363 East Villa Street from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The City of Pasadena Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department, in partnership with the Triumph Foundation, announced the venue change to provide a safe and accessible environment for participants. Originally planned for Brookside Park, the free event invites individuals of all abilities to participate in adaptive sports including rugby, pickleball, tennis, boccia, boxing, power soccer, and fencing. All equipment will be provided, trained coaches and instructors will be on-site, and lunch will be served to all registered attendees.
Altadena Arts Magnet PTA Cancels Fundraising Pancake Breakfast
Weather concerns have forced organizers to postpone a community pancake breakfast scheduled for Saturday morning.
The Altadena Arts Magnet PTA planned to serve pancakes, coffee and juice at Good Neighbor Bar’s outdoor patio. A new notice cited rain as a threat to the fundraiser.
DroneArt Show Rescheduled to Sunday Evening
The DroneArt Show at Rose Bowl Stadium, originally scheduled for Saturday, November 15, at 7 p.m., has been postponed to Sunday, November 16, at 7 p.m. due to the developing weather conditions. All ticketholders’ tickets have been automatically updated to reflect the new show date.
The 65-minute performance features hundreds of synchronized drones creating aerial choreography accompanied by live string music performing classical masterpieces including Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons” and Tchaikovsky’s “Swan Lake”. Doors open two hours prior to the start time, and late entry after showtime may not be permitted.
Weather Conditions Prompting Cancellations
The National Weather Service issued a Flood Watch for Pasadena from 1 a.m. Saturday through 10 p.m. Saturday, warning of flooding caused by excessive rainfall. Forecasters predict showers and possibly thunderstorms throughout Saturday, with some storms producing heavy rainfall. Rainfall totals are expected between one to 2.5 inches, with rainfall rates potentially reaching 0.5 to one inch per hour.
Areas impacted by the January Eaton Fire, including portions of Pasadena and Altadena, face particular risk of debris flows, flooding, and erosion due to burn scar vulnerability. Los Angeles County officials issued evacuation warnings for residents living within the Eaton Fire burn scar beginning Thursday evening.
The storm system moved into the Central Coast Thursday afternoon before spreading south overnight, with rain reaching Los Angeles County by Friday morning. Temperatures are expected in the upper 50s to low 60s through the weekend, several degrees below normal.
