Altadena Town Council to Hear Assessor’s Update Amid Packed Agenda
When the Altadena Town Council meets Tuesday evening, its agenda will span topics ranging from upcoming election rules to wildfire recovery, with county officials and community leaders scheduled to deliver a wide array of reports.
The meeting is set for Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. at the Altadena Community Center, 730 East Altadena Drive. It will also be streamed live on Pasadena Media’s YouTube channel.
The meeting will open with a flag salute by student honoree Hayden Meadows.
Officers’ reports will follow from Chair Victoria Knapp, Vice Chair Nic Arnzen, Secretary Kim Yu — including approval of the Aug. 19 minutes — Treasurer Milissa Marona, and Corresponding Secretary Connor Cipolla.
Public safety updates will be next up for the evening, with presentations expected from Captain Ethan Marquez of the Altadena Sheriff’s Station, Officer Jeremy Keller of the California Highway Patrol, and Maria Grycan, community liaison for the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Forestry updates will follow from Ranger Raymond Kidd of Division 3.
Los Angeles County Assessor Jeffrey Prang will deliver a presentation.
A series of community reports is also planned. Hans Alhoff will speak for the Community Coalition for Altadena Recovery, while Mark Mariscal will represent Rotary. Two Los Angeles County Public Works updates are scheduled: Steven Gutierrez will provide an “Eaton Fire Parkway Tree Update,” and Alicia Ramos will discuss a draft equity framework. Additional reports will come from Altadena Library District Director Nikki Winslow, Parks Services Manager Guillermo Portillo of the county’s East Foothill District, Eaton Canyon Nature Center Superintendent Richard Smart, and Bree Jensen of the Eaton Fire Collaborative. Chris O’Malley, liaison for the Owen Brown Committee, is also listed to report.
Committee updates will cover land use, elections, legislation, education, the town council’s 50th anniversary, and the Altadena Eaton Fire Recovery Fund Advisory Committee. Chairs include Diane Marcussen (Land Use), Isis Moulden (Election and Education), Milissa Marona (Legislative and Co-Chair, Fire Recovery Fund Advisory), and Victoria Knapp (Co-Chair, 50th Anniversary).
General public comment is scheduled. Attendees are invited to submit written cards before or during the session, with remarks limited to two minutes.
Later in the evening, the council will hear census tract reports from Tracts 4602 and 4611, before adjourning.
