Altadena Rotary’s Free Summer Concerts Return to Fire-Renovated Loma Alta Park

A seven-Saturday series opens July 11 at the first of Altadena’s county parks to reopen after the Eaton Fire

The Rotary Club of Altadena will open its 29th season of free Saturday-night concerts on July 11 at Loma Alta Park, which the county has called the first of Altadena’s county parks to reopen after the Eaton Fire.

The seven-Saturday series, staged in partnership with the county Department of Parks and Recreation, runs through Aug. 22 on the lower lawn of Loma Alta Park, 3330 N. Lincoln Ave. It is the second summer the concerts have been held there. The Rotary Club moved them to Loma Alta after the January 2025 fire damaged Farnsworth Park, the series’ previous home, according to LA County Parks.

Loma Alta Park closed after the fire and reopened May 17, 2025, following a $3.4 million renovation, the county Department of Parks and Recreation said. The rebuild added two Dodgers Dreamfields, a gymnasium renovated by the LA Clippers Foundation, a satellite senior center and a technology center.

The concerts begin at 7 p.m. each Saturday. Admission is free, and the Rotary Club will sell beer and wine at all seven shows.

The season opens July 11 with Dream Like Taylor, a Taylor Swift tribute. Past Action Heroes, a rock, pop and R&B act, follows July 18, and the all-female salsa band Las Chikas plays July 25. Britain’s Finest, a Beatles tribute, plays Aug. 1. Upstream, a steel drum reggae and soca band, plays Aug. 8, and the Blue Breeze Band, covering Motown, R&B, soul, funk, jazz and blues, plays Aug. 15. The season closes Aug. 22 with Stevie Nicks Illusion, a Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks tribute presented by Gigroster.com.

The county said it compressed a rebuild that would normally take about 18 months into roughly two. “The community asked for the park to reopen, and knew we needed to meet the moment. Here we are, as promised, just two months later,” said Norma E. García-González, director of LA County Parks and Recreation, at the May 2025 reopening.

“Loma Alta Park is a vital gathering place where our community can come together, especially in times of healing,” said Kathryn Barger, chair of the county Board of Supervisors, at the reopening.

In announcing the 2026 lineup, the Rotary Club said it is “incredibly grateful” to Barger and the county Parks and Recreation Department “for their support in making it possible to keep the series going as Altadena recovers from the Eaton Fire,” according to the organization’s website.

The series is supported by sponsors including the California Community Foundation, MonteCedro, Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts, Toyota Pasadena and Supervisor Barger’s office, according to the Rotary Club’s announcement. The series started in 1997 and has missed only one summer, in 2020, when COVID-19 canceled the season. Mark Mariscal, the club’s executive secretary and a fire survivor, said the group’s aim is broader than music. “Our Rotary Club hopes to help continue building community from those that are displaced and those that are still just returning,” Mariscal said.
