Now Richard, he of courtyard too
was brought to bring her home!
For Shuggie’s cat sitter he is
when Mary is not home.

A perfect savior, knightly too
for he does give to cat
familiar face and cat food too.
Her guardian—in fact!

The neighbor found and story told
she was so quite agast!
For summer porch was closed off now
to keep the heat in fast.

Then out cat  came, and they do smile
I saw it on her face.
To Richard’s arms she slipped right in
with purring sound in place!

Then up the courtyard Richard came
a knight if ever be.
So Shuggie leapt to run to home
but launched——– so horribly!

So should you see a  black haired man
a riding on his bike.
If left arm looks as if he’d been
a fighting a sword fight….

Well— that is Richard, say hello,
revere his knightly deed!
He sacrificed in blood to  save
a kitty much in need!

Two heroes here, in the courtyard,
 are Zach and Richard then.
The kindly neighbors this town has
for pet lovers— a win!

So just in case the reader hears
of missing dog or cat..
Think back to open shed or door
could a lost pet be trapped?

That is this courtyard’s tale of love
and also sacrifice.
For Altadena’s filled with folks
who truly are quite nice.

And so we end this real life tale
here in Altadena.
Although we have another name;
that’s why we’re CRITTERdena!
