Poetry Corner: Some lines on a heron

The Heron is a lovely bird!
Although he flies through air,
he likes to sit and walk about,
and seems so debonair.
Except for that Antarctica,
to all continents he’ll fly.
How wonderful for DENA-town
that he has stopped on by.
And Tom and Jane, the lucky ones,
with Szabo, as last name.
Your Koi pond is quite famous now
with sushi meal of fame.
So lucky you to have this guest,
you truly have been blessed!,
HERON, a long legged fisherman,
and spring time charming guest!

A fisherman he truly is,
as head moves side to side!
Accounting for refraction there,
for koi fish he has spied!
Upright he stands, or even crouched,
and aims with spearlike bill.
His aim is true, and thus for him,
he gets his meal with skill.
A carnivore, he truly is,
plus lizards he eats sure!
Upon the pond, spread seeds or leaves
a clever bird fish lure.
Perhaps he’ll stay and hang out here,
so please don’t fly away.
For coming soon, with sushi too,
it’s Fancy Food Truck Day!
