Today’s the day for the social event of the year: the second annual San Gabriel Valley Bloggers’ “Primavera in Altadena” potluck, at Farnsworth Park, starting at noon today. That’s where we’ll be!

According to District Ranger Michael McIntyre, the Forest Service is looking for public input on the Cobb Estate, the popular hiking area at the end of Lake Ave.

The second annual “Primavera in Altadena” potluck for the bloggers of the San Gabriel Valley was a hit, getting a little less than 50 people at its peak. Bloggers from Altadena, Pasadena, LCF, South Pas, and Glendale, as well as blogfans from all over, gathered in Farnsworth Park Saturday and were well-represented with good company and a groaning board of food.

Altadena Heritage‘s next “Heritage of Abundance” workshop will be Thurs., March 4 at the Community Center, 730 E. Altadena Dr. starting at 6:30 PM. “Windows and Doors: Preserve, Don’t Replace” is free for members of Altadena Heritage, and $5 suggested donation for non-members.

National Weather Service says there’s still a danger of flash floods. Some weather stations have already recorded over one inch since it began (Bill Westphal’s Weathercam station has already recorded 1.26 since midnight):

A free trip to the glorious past of the Mount Lowe Railway above Altadena
See historical pictures of the Mount Lowe Railway and hear about the marvelous playground that was developed above Altadena by Thaddeus Lowe in the 1890’s. David J. Macpherson was the engineering genius that designed the inclined railway to Mount Echo.

About 70 people attended the Altadena Neighborhood Watch Conference hosted by the Altadena Sheriff’s Station Community Advisory Committee.
Several speakers including Frank Girardot from the Pasadena Star News and Congressman Adam Schiff were on hand and several informative panel discussions provided people with great information on Neighborhood Watch and related items.

Bring the family to the Altadena Library at 7 PM March 9, as the Gypsy Folk Ensemble holds an old-fashioned Irish Ceilidh (KAY-lee).
Wear something green or blue (blue?) and watch the jigs, reels, and hornpipes as they take you back to the Emerald Isle. Admission is free, and it’s at the LIbrary Community Room, 600 E. Mariposa.

My husband and I found two beautiful and friendly dogs running loose up Windsor, several blocks south of Mountain View, today at around 4:00pm. They were running in the middle of street and could have easily been hit. They were chasing a bicyclist who seemed pretty nervous when we asked if these were his dogs (they were not), so we pulled over and corralled them.
The mama dog had a chain collar with a broken black strap attached,

The event will kick off Friday evening June 25 at the Gallery with the opening of the silent auction show which will be available for bidding through the weekend. The Friday event runs from 6-11 PM.
