Holly Slope Road was visited by a bobcat again Saturday morning.  We think this is a different cat but we’re not sure.

A couple of items crossed our virtual desk today:

• Frequent Altadenablog commenter Isaac Garcia, CEO of Pasadena-based tech startup Central Desktop, is quoted in today's USA Today article  about small businesses and software-as-a-service (or SaaS).  Central Desktop makes collaborative tools for Microsoft Office applications, and is in the forefront of this industry.

Linda Lane White, the "Singing Realtor" (she should really be fighting crime or something with a moniker like that)  sends us this note about a good deed tomorrow:

On Thursday, May 13, 2010, Keller Williams Realty will be participating in the 2nd Annual Red Day by giving back to their communities all across the United States and Canada. 

I live in Altadena and am giving away 21 hens. They range in age from 2 to 4 years old and some still lay very actively. I get about 3-7 eggs per day. I have two chicken coops that I am happy to give away as well, though they are a bit old and dirty. I have attached a few pictures. Planning for the “Altadena ARTBreak 2010 Community Arts Festival”, sponsored by the Altadena Arts Council and co-sponsored by Los Angeles County Parksand Recreation Department, is moving into high gear for the event’s Sat., June 12 opening at Farnsworth Park. And event organizers are pleased with the participant interest the event has generated thus far.

• Art on Palm: Local artists and artisans will display their latest creations in a secluded private canyon garden at Art on Palm,Spring 2010, Saturday, April 24th, 9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. at 1419 E.

Hosted by Theatre Americana and Show of Support Productions, two non-profit organizations, in collaboration with the County of Los Angeles Parks and Recreation, “An Oscar For Mom,” includes a special lunch and musical performances to songs with heartfelt meaning such as “Thank Heaven For Little Girls,” “Through My Daughter’s Eyes,” and “Sunrise/Sunset,” among others.

The highlight of the Altadena summer is always the Sheriff's Support Group's concert series at Farnsworth Park.  This year, there will not only be first-class acts almost every weekend, but boxed picnic dinner, standup comedy, gourmet coffee, and more.

The Altadena Arts Coalition will be hosting another great community gathering with the May Day Festival coming up next Sat., May 1!

Featured event is the debut of "Abstract: Altadena," a collection of images by local photographers that will be on display in Galloway Alley behind Steve's Bike Shop at Lake and Mariposa.

We have to give a shout-out to the firefighters at Station 11 today.  The New Dog (whom we have named Hansel for his Germanic deliberation in all things), rather than come in at 10 PM after his evening patrol of the back yard, broke off at a run and squeezed himself into a 16-in.  or so gap between the wall of the garage and a wooden fence on the property line. 

In addition to the groaning board of activities in Altadena this weekend, you may wish to take the family to Pasadena's Greening the Earth Day activities in Memorial Park and at the Armory Center for the Arts today (details here).  

Of local interest, State Sen. Carol Liu will demonstrate planting a Blue Hesper Palm,

This morning, the Mt. Wilson Bicycling Association held a pancake breakfast and fundraiser on the Cobb Estate to help pay for their trail restoration work.

Quite a crowd gathered a short hike from the estate’s gates.

Lots of bikers means lots of bikes.

Last week, Jane Brackman asked for reports of sightings of a hairless, coyote-like canid who was seen around the Meadows (she is tracking the migration of this species, which is not a Chupacabra, by the way).  When we checked in with her at the Green Carriage House tour Sunday, she said that there were reports that a xoloitzcuintli (“xolo” pronounced “sholo” for short),

Explore Latino art and culture on May 11 at the Bob Lucas Branch Library, 2659 N. Lincoln Ave.

The “We Tell Stories” troupe returns to the Altadena Libraries with their hit story-play Cuentos de la Familia/Stories of the Family, at 11 AM.

At 3:30 PM, explore Latino arts & culture with craft activities, also at the Lucas Library.  More details on the flyer.

The items collected are sold at the Saint Vincent dePaul thrift stores in downtown LA and Long Beach.   All one has to do is drive through the parking lot of St.

Put it in the calendar (if you haven't already) that this Sat., May 1, from 5-10 PM, the Altadena Arts Coalition and the merchants of North Lake Ave. will hold a May Day Festival in Galloway Alley.
