The Mighty Echoes Coming to the Altadena Library
On Saturday, June 13th at 6:30 p.m. the Altadena Library welcomes The Mighty Echoes to the library’s monthly event series, Second Saturday.
The library will open its doors after hours to bring live music, local food and drink and art to the community.
The Mighty Echoes began singing together in 1986 in a store front venue on Los Angeles’ Sunset Boulevard. Over twenty five years later they continue to craft harmonies par excellence as they entertain audiences coast to coast performing a cappella doo wop, and re-creating the vocal group sound of rock & roll’s classic era. They are best known for their film and TV guest star appearances, beginning with “Who’s The Boss?” and continuing, most recently, with “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.”
The Mighty Echoes are one of California’s most accomplished and respected cappella ensembles. They have performed for President Bill Clinton and sung the National Anthem at Dodger Stadium.
The Mighty Echoes have appeared with many famous and iconic artists: Ray Charles, Chuck Berry, Stevie Wonder, The Coasters, The Marvelettes, The Marcels, Chubby Checker, Gene Chandler, Little Anthony, The Shirelles, The Diamonds, The Penguins, The Flamingoes, Tony Orlando, and many more.
Decadent deserts will be available from The Bacon Babe who was just declared co-champion of The 2015 California Strawberry Festival. The Altadena Ale & Wine House will be pouring from its excellent selection of craft ales and fine wines and El Patron, the Altadena Chamber of Commerce 2014 Business of the Year, will be serving up their amazing Mexican food hot off the grill.
Burma Brown’s artwork will be featured in the library during Second Saturday. Burma’s artwork reflects the things in life he loves the most, music, the ocean and freedom. Through his art he has found a voice to speak to the world and say ‘I am here’!”
The library will remain open during the event so come and enjoy browsing our robust collection of books, DVDs, and music. This is one special night in Altadena not to miss!
The program is provided free of charge, food and beverages will be on sale. The Altadena Library is located at 600 E. Mariposa St. For more information about the event and organization please visit the library’s website at www.altadenalibrary.org.
