Pasadena Announces Street Closures for Rose Bowl Turkey Trot

Several streets near the Rose Bowl Stadium will be closed Thursday morning, Nov. 27, to accommodate the 8th Annual Rose Bowl Turkey Trot, city officials announced. The closures run from 5:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., while the 5K charity run itself is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., according to the City of Pasadena’s official advisory.

The affected streets include Rosemont Avenue from Washington Boulevard to Seco Street; Salvia Canyon Road at Linda Vista Avenue; Yocum Street from Parkview Avenue to Washington Boulevard; Rose Bowl Drive from Arroyo Boulevard to Zanja Street; Westgate Street at Arroyo Boulevard; and West Drive from Seco Street to Washington Boulevard.

The annual Thanksgiving Day event, first held in 2018, is organized by the Rose Bowl Operating Company and the Rose Bowl Legacy Foundation, with proceeds benefiting stadium preservation and the Pasadena Unified School District Educational Foundation’s Eaton Fire Response Fund.

Participants will run or walk a 3.1-mile paved loop around the stadium and Brookside Golf Course. Dogs on leashes and strollers are permitted, and one water station will be available midway through the course. Free parking is offered in Lot K at West Drive and Seco Street, while city parking meters will not be enforced on Thanksgiving Day. Pasadena Transit Route 33 will operate on a Sunday schedule; all other routes and Dial-A-Ride service will be suspended.

Registration fees are fully tax-deductible, with adult entry priced at $46.58 and youth entry at $41.28 as of race day. Children under 10 and Pasadena Unified School District students may participate for free. As of Wednesday, 265 registration spots remained available, according to the official race website.

While the event has grown steadily since its inception, several information gaps remain. The City of Pasadena has not released attendance projections or historical attendance figures, and no copy of the Department of Transportation’s transportation management plan or permit documentation has been made public. Insurance and liability arrangements for the event also remain undisclosed.
