Samaritan’s Purse Taking Applications to Rebuild Up to 100 Altadena Homes Lost in Eaton Fire

Homeowners who lost their primary and only residence in the Eaton Fire have until Sept. 30 to apply

Samaritan’s Purse is accepting applications through Sept. 30 from Altadena homeowners who lost their primary and only residence in the Eaton Fire, part of an effort to rebuild up to 100 homes, the organization said.

The program rebuilds owner-occupied primary residences destroyed in the January 2025 Los Angeles County wildfires and gives priority to uninsured and underinsured families, according to Samaritan’s Purse.

Homes will be built from the Foothill Catalog of floor plans by local California-licensed builders and subcontractors, and a California-licensed general contractor oversees each build, the organization said. Homeowners take part in the rebuilding process and commit to keeping the home as their primary residence. Accessibility features may be incorporated when required.

Applicants do not need an assigned case manager, and the organization’s team will determine whether they meet the program’s eligibility requirements, Samaritan’s Purse said.

The notice appeared in the Altadena Library District’s Aug. 27 Altadena Connections bulletin at AltadenaNews.org. The Eaton Fire Collaborative, an Altadena organization of recovery groups, said the federally funded Disaster Case Management Program will shut down Sept. 30 because the Federal Emergency Management Agency has not paid $10 million it approved, Pasadena Now reported Sept. 9.
