Altadena Library District Invites the Community to “Taste of ‘Dena” Fundraiser

Altadena Library District is proud to invite the public to the upcoming Taste of ‘Dena fundraiser benefiting new projects at the Library on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. This special night will feature delectable wine, beer, and spirit tastings, samplings of amuse-bouches from a diverse assortment of local restaurants and caterers, exciting prize drawings, and a mystery Wine Pull.

“Our community is full of talented, culinary artisans, and we are thrilled to feature local flavors,” says Event Chair Cynthia Carmona, “The generosity of Library patrons has been overwhelming, and our selection of wines in the Wine Pull will thrill guests and ensure that the proceeds of this event form a solid foundation off of which to launch these important efforts.”

Taste of ‘Dena will launch the fundraising campaign to support the development of a community-oriented, interactive outdoor space around the Main Library, featuring serene resting spaces for walkers and readers, opportunities for discovery for our littlest patrons, and indigenous flora. In recent months through a variety of Community Conversations and one-on-one meetings with key stakeholders in Altadena, many priorities for community progress have emerged, and the Library is eager to start taking action, specifically on the recurring issue of improving mobility throughout Altadena. With its unique property layout and ample open space, the Library is the perfect location for an open space for the public to convene, walk, and rest. Not only will this new garden environment expand the multi-use space the Library makes available to everyone in the community, but it will also expand the capacity of the Library’s Children’s and Teen programming, offering new opportunities for outdoor discovery and engagement.

Library Director Mindy Kittay says of the event and the initiative, “Altadena is poised and ready for progress, and the Altadena Library District is proud to be a leader in our community’s collective pursuit of improvement and growth. This special evening of fellowship, while full of fun and culinary delights, holds deeper meaning for the citizens of Altadena, as we band together to launch this exciting initiative that will benefit Altadenans of all ages and stages.”

Sponsorship packages and tickets start at $50 and are available online at tasteofdena.eventbrite.com. Ticket price will increase to $60 the day of the event and at the door. With a ticket purchase, all guests will receive a complimentary, commemorative wine glass and an automatic entry into the main prize drawing. Event capacity is limited to 200 guests and spots are going quickly, so buy your tickets as soon as possible! Guests must be 21 years of age or older.
