Woman’s Body Found Near Popular Hiking Trail Friday Night
[Updated Saturday, July 20, 2019 | 10:00 a.m.] A woman’s body was discovered near a popular hiking trail above The Cobb Estate in Altadena just before 9 p.m. Friday night.
Sheriff’s officials were called to the spot by the report of a body inside a tent, authorities said.
The body was located close to the Sam Merrill Trailhead near East Loma Alta Drive and Lake Avenue.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Dept. homicide detectives responded to the scene.
Coroner’s officials removed the body just before midnight. The woman’s identity has not been released.
A coroner’s official said the body showed “obvious signs of decay,” indicating it has been lying in the spot for some time.
