LASD Arson/Explosives Detail Investigates Altadena Residential Fire

main_image_LASD-carDeputies from the Altadena Sheriff’s Station responding to a residential fire in the 200 block of East Pentagon Street about 2:42 p.m. today discovered live ammunition in the back yard of the residence after Los Angeles County Fire Department extinguished the blaze.

As a precautionary public safety measure, deputies evacuated the neighboring residences and notified LASD Arson/Explosives Detail.

Upon further examination, it was determined that the ammunition posed no additional hazard, was legally possessed and was not the cause of the fire.

The evacuated residents were allowed to return to their homes shortly after.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the LA County Fire Department and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Arson/Explosives Detail.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Altadena Station at (626) 798-1131.
