kids

Residents, business leaders, teachers, students and parents are invited to participate in Collaborate PASadena’s Community Forum Wednesday, May 13th to advance child and family well-being in Altadena, Pasadena and Sierra Madre.

The forum will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Fuller Theological Seminary’s Payton Hall (Room 101), 135 N. Oakland Ave., Pasadena. The forum is sponsored by the City of Pasadena, the Pasadena Unified School District, the Pasadena Educational Foundation and Fuller Theological Seminary.

All residents, including those who participated in previous Collaborate PASadena workgroup meetings, are invited to attend the Community Forum. The purpose of the forum is to update the community on Collaborate PASadena and next steps in the implementation of what had been previously known as the School/City/Community Workplan.

Collaborate PASadena is a collaboration of residents, youth, parents, city officials, educators, school district leaders and nonprofit agencies initially formed to improve city and school board collaboration. The initiative has evolved to be a process for community planning built on common agenda, shared measurement and continuous communications. Collaborate PASadena seeks to support a transparent community-wide planning process for the long-term; engage key populations, including youth, parents, faith-based and business leaders who guide the process; and facilitate workgroups to complete planning and implementation.

Collaborate PASadena’s workgroups are focused in four result areas:

• Early Development Needs are Met for Infants and Children 0-5
• Students are Actively Learning in School and Community
• Students and Families are Healthy – Physically, Mentally and Socially
• We live in Safe, Stable and Supportive Environments

These result areas will be woven together into a comprehensive effort, guided by an action plan and scorecard, to assure that the children of Pasadena, Altadena and Sierra Madre all grow up in a community that prepares them for success in school and in life.

Follow up and current information, as well as opportunity for community input, will be maintained at www.CollaboratePASadena.org.

Collaborate PASadena Community Forum, will be held on Wednesday, May 13. Refreshments will be served at 5:30 p.m. and the meeting will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Room 101, Payton Hall, Fuller Theological Seminary (135 N. Oakland Ave., Pasadena).
