The meeting, hosted by the Black Clergy coalition and First AME Church Pasadena, is set for 10 a.m. to noon at 1700 N. Raymond Ave. Organizers said the event will provide information about Southern California Edison’s wildfire recovery compensation program, enacted to address destruction caused by the Eaton Fire.
Rev. Dr. Larry E. Campbell, pastor of First AME Pasadena, is scheduled to facilitate the discussion. The announcement said the agenda includes accurate information about the compensation program, general eligibility, the claims process, and strategies for building long-term relationships between Edison and the Black community. Southern California Edison has expressed a commitment to listening and engaging with residents.
Organizers described the town hall as an opportunity for homeowners, clergy, renters and other community residents to ensure their voices are heard and help shape a partnership for the future.
Speakers listed include Dr. Shanica; retired fireman Kevin Robertson; Altadena NAACP President and attorney Wilberta Richardson, identified in the announcement with “displaced/smoke/toxins”; Pastor Anthony McFarland of the Black Clergy; and Camille Dudley, described as a single renter.
Community partners named include Danny Bakewell Jr., Judy Matthews of the L.A. Sentinel, Lena Louise Kennedy, the Altadena and Pasadena branches of the NAACP, Pasadena Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Inc., Shepherd’s Door, and Veronica Jones.
The event is free and open to the public, though organizers said registration is encouraged to ensure seating. RSVP information is available at lenaperspective@gmail.com or (626) 625-1925.
The hosts are listed as The Black Clergy organization and First AME Church, Pasadena, with presenters Community Women and Vital Voices.
The Black Clergy coalition named in the announcement includes pastors and leaders from numerous congregations, among them Rev. Thomas Bereal of Abounding Grace Ministries, Rev. John Bledsoe of Zion Star Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor Jean Burch of Community Bible Church, Pastor Wayne C. Cooper of Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church, Bishop Charles Dorsey of Lifeline Fellowship Christian Center, and Bishop Ricky Johnson of Shield of Faith Pasadena.
