Local business organization launches new initiatives to support affected members

The Altadena Chamber of Commerce & Civic Association has intensified its support efforts following the Eaton fire that destroyed multiple member businesses.

The organization has launched a new website and expanded its communication strategy to better serve the affected business community.

On Saturday, the Chamber issued a calendar listing a half dozen or more upcoming events as part of its enhanced response to the crisis.

Today, February 16, the Altadena Chamber is hosting “Melodia Mariposa: Altadena Strong – We Will Build Fundraiser” on February 16 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1757 N. Lake Ave, Pasadena. This free event runs from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., demonstrating the community’s commitment to rebuilding efforts. It will feature the Lyris Quartet and guest artists (Alan Chapman, Bruce Broughton. Proceeds will support Altadena musicians/businesses impacted by Eaton Fire. For more Melodia Mariposa: melodiamariposa.org.

As part of its recovery initiative, local businesses can access Local, State and Federal Disaster Recovery Event Information through several upcoming programs. A key event, “Assistance for Altadena Businesses,” will take place on February 21 and 23 at the Pasadena Federal Credit Union, offering support sessions from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The Lake Branch Community Center is at 1285 N. Lake Ave, Pasadena. The Center offers emergency supplies (N95 masks, air purifiers, solar power stations) and personal necessities (clothing, hygiene products). For more, call (800) 445-7328.

Further strengthening its support network, the Chamber will hold an Open Session Board Meeting virtually on March 4 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., inviting public participation.

The Chamber will also participate in the MEGAMIX EXPO at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia on March 12-13, focusing on “Empowering Local Business Through Connection and Opportunity.”

Regular Chamber Business Mixers continue to be held monthly on the fourth Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at various locations, offering free admission for members and a $5 fee for non-members. These networking events “attract dozens of business and community leaders in search of valuable contacts.”

Attendees can network with other business professionals, view the host location, and enjoy food, drinks, drawing prizes at these in-person, socially safe, friendly Chamber mixers.

The Chamber also reminded that Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger hosts Altadena Community Meetings every Monday at 4 p.m., available on:
