McGinty’s Gallery at the End of the World in Altadena Offers Friday “Doubleheader,” Art Exhibit and Film Festival
McGinty’s Gallery at the End of the World in Altadena will be opening a new exhibit, “Anatomy of a Group Show,” with a reception coinciding with the second Annual Altadena Invitational Film Festival and Community Social on Friday, August 3, from 5 to 10 p.m.
“Anatomy of a Group Show” features 35 local creative and occasionally maverick artists. One of them, Altadena resident Judith Bowman, feels lucky to have allowed her former hobbies – illustrations, caricatures, and collages – to blossom after her retirement from the stress of deadlines, grant submissions and nonprofit drama. Her work is reflective of the modern political landscape.
Other artists in the exhibit, which runs through September 29, include Kate Alkarni, Paul August Bruins Slot, Susan Braig, Elizabeth Butterfield, Ashoka Chhabra, Melanie Maria Ciccone, Patricia Cunliffe, Pascaline Doucin-Dahlke, Linley Eathorne, Joe Feinblatt, Pepi Feinblatt, Johnny Fox, Michael Haasis, Deb Halberstadt, Rod Holcomb, Lisa Houpt, Cammie Jones, Ildiko Laszlo, Alix McKenna, Amelia Medina, Chris Moore, Robert Moore, Gifford Myers, Steve Ohlrich, Lynne Olson, Paz, Jocelyn Pedersen, Megan Sanchez, Christie Shinn, Debbi Swanson Patrick, Pat Tom, Denise Villagran, Patricia Woodlin, Sean Yang, and Jirayr Zorthian.
Friday’s opening reception at McGinty’s Gallery will feature short films shown after dark and performances by Nocturra and Keith, HB3, and Crimebo the Crime Clown.
McGinty’s Gallery at the End of the World is located at 869 E. Mariposa Street in Altadena. Admission is free. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
