Altadena Public Library Presents The Year-End Installment of the Open Studios Art Tour
Saturday, December 5th, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., as part of the 5th Open Studios Art Tour, featuring 50 exhibiting artists throughout Altadena and Pasadena, Altadena Library District proudly announces its participation and welcomes featured artists, Valérie Daval and Alejandra Engelberg.
The art exhibition will present artist photography from Alejandra Engelberg and drawings, from artist painter, Valérie Daval. Alejandra Engelberg will exhibit her photography made during the 4th Open Studios Art Tour while Valérie and the dancers will exhibit some new drawings of dancers.
Valérie Daval will do live drawings of dancers on December 5th, 2-6pm in different successive sessions. There will be a solo dancer, duo and small group with dancers from Altadena’s Community Dance Jam and from Contact Improv Dance (ARC Pasadena).
The art exhibition will remain featured in the Barbara J. Pearson Community Room of the main Altadena Library until December 15th.
Valérie Daval is a French-born artist, painter, art instructor, and art therapist based in Los Angeles since 2007. She started painting in early childhood. After earning her degrees in the “Ecole des beaux-arts du Mans”, she began her visual research, focusing on landscapes, portraits and mythology. She also worked on theater sets, frescos, street art projects and performance shows, doing live show sketches of contemporary dance performances. Daval’s work has been exhibited in France, Germany, the U.K. and the U.S. Learn more about Valérie at www.valeriedaval.com.
Alejandra Engelberg is an Argentinean-born multi discipline media artist. In Buenos Aires, she has studied classical music at the conservatory, audiovisual design in university and theater. In the US, she has participated in performances and as assistant production for movies and she has produced a movie that was presented by Women in Film in LA. She is also a yoga teacher; healer and life coach. She will show her photography at the library for the first time.
Open Studios is a vibrant group of artists from Altadena and Pasadena, dedicated to the promotion of ART and to sharing it with neighbors. Open Studios provide twice yearly, free art shows to the community. The Open Studios Art Tour is a self-guided, multi-location event featuring many genres of art from local artists at their studios, and host retail locations. There will be art for every taste including paintings, sculpture, ceramics, neon art, mixed media, assemblage, photography, jewelry and textiles.
Join Open Studios on the weekend of December 5th and 6th, from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. each day. Come and share this fun and exciting weekend featuring:
