Altadena Public Library Presents Music Artist Kenny Sara & The Sounds of New Orleans

Saturday, November 14th at 6:30 p.m., the Altadena Library District presents Kenny Sara & the Sounds of New Orleans as its musical artist for November’s Second Saturday. Kenny Sara & the Sounds of New Orleans feature a four-piece band of musicians whose style ranges from New Orleans Jazz to Zydeco Cajun and 60s/70s/80s funk.

Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Kenny began playing professionally with seasoned musicians at the age of 14.

Kenny’s musical collaborations include names like Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Woody Allen, and Bo Diddley to name a few. He’s played in various venues and festivals like: the Playboy Jazz Festival, the Cal-Poly Wine Tasting Festival, the Portland Blues Festival, the Los Angeles Jazz Festival, and the Chicago Blues Festival to name a few. Kenny also served as Musical Director for the national tour of One Mo’ Time musical review and the Broadway production of One Mo’ Time in New York City.

Kenny’s musical television credits include but are not limited to Everybody Loves Raymond, a featured performer on Donnie & Marie’s Good Morning New York, Charles in Charge, and The Rosie O’Donnell Show. Kenny also served as co-writer on a song, Steppin’ Out Tonight, featured on the hit television series, Bones, and retains another featured song on Amad Rashad’s sports show, NBA One-on-One.

Decadent desserts will be available from Sweeter Than Honey Baking. The Altadena Ale & Wine House will be pouring from its excellent selection of craft ales and fine wines while El Patron, the Altadena Chamber of Commerce 2014 Business of the Year, will be serving up their amazing Mexican and new this month, GypsyEats will be providing additional dining options.

Local artist, Mary Kay Stam, will feature her installation, The Myopic Series, as the library’s November exhibit housed in the Barbara J. Pearson Community Room of the main library. The series of paintings address how the human race has had a myopic view of the environment since the industrial age.

This event is free and open to the public. No reservations are required.
