Altadena Heritage: Historic Preservation 101

Can You Benefit From L.A. County’s New Historic Preservation Ordinance and the Mills Act Program?

Altadena Heritage’s March “Third Thursday” presentation features a panel of experts who will inform us about the recently adopted Los Angeles County Historic Preservation Ordinance and the Mills Act, which grants property tax reductions to certain qualified historic properties. Join Altadena Heritage on Thursday, March 17 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Altadena Community Center (730 East Altadena Drive) to hear insights from:

Tim Gregory, an architectural historian (“The Building Biographer”) and a founding Altadena Heritage board member who was involved in initiating the community-wide historic architectural survey that became the foundation for AH’s architectural database, and;

Phillip Estes, a principal planner with the L.A. County Department of Regional Planning who leads community planning efforts in unincorporated areas, including the successful implementation of the County’s first-ever Historic Preservation Ordinance and Mills Act; and

Kevin Johnson, a senior planner with the City of Pasadena’s Design and Historic Preservation staff who serves as manager of the city’s Mills Act Program.

There will be a Q&A session after the presentation.

This program is free and open to the public as part of Altadena Heritage’s “Third Thursday” Series, and includes light refreshments.
