Altadena Community to Mark Spring’s Arrival at Block Party for Fire Recovery
Residents of Altadena affected by the recent Los Angeles fires will gather this weekend for an outdoor celebration aimed at community rebuilding and resilience.
The Eaton Spring Celebration, organized by the Vassar Club of Greater Los Angeles, will take place Saturday, April 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Altadena Lake Plaza on the northwest corner of Lake Avenue and Altadena Drive.
“Altadena was one of the areas hit hardest by the LA fires, and the community there has been working hard to come together and lift each other up,” the Altadena Sheriff’s Station said in a post on social media.
The free event will feature food provided by World Central Kitchen, live music from 88.5 FM The SoCal Sound, family-friendly activities, and expert guidance for residents navigating recovery efforts.
Representatives from the Altadena Library District’s Curiosity Connection Van, LA County Fire Department stations 11 and 12, and the LA County Sheriff’s Department will be on site. Free supplies, including housewares, toiletries, air purifiers, clothing, and protective equipment will be distributed to those in need.
This Eaton Spring Celebration is a Vassar Serves event, where Vassar College alumni and the Vassar community in Los Angeles are given an opportunity to demonstrate the spirit of service.
The Vassar Club of Greater Los Angeles is part of a network connecting over 42,000 alumni of Vassar College, a liberal arts institution in New York’s Hudson Valley. Founded in 1861 as one of the first women’s colleges in the United States, Vassar began admitting men in 1969.
At the Altadena event, Vassar alumni can either volunteer in person, or contribute supplies. For more information, visit this Vassar Connect webpage.
Organizers emphasize that the event will provide both practical resources and a festive atmosphere as the community continues its recovery process.
