Second Annual TreeFest Gives Away Citrus Trees and Native Saplings to Altadena Residents

The free event runs 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, November 7, at Odyssey School

AltadenaWILD, Altadena Green and California State University Northridge’s Urban Forestry Project host the second annual ReGreen Altadena Community TreeFest on Saturday, November 7, at Odyssey School, continuing their commitment to regrow the tree canopy lost in the Eaton Fire.

The event includes a first-come, first-served giveaway of 300 5-gallon citrus trees and 200 California native live oak saplings for Altadena residents, along with public demonstrations and talks and exhibit booths staffed by representatives of environmental organizations.

TreeFest and its tree giveaway are part of AltadenaWILD’s ReGreen Altadena initiative. Volunteers can sign up to help run the event.

Altadena Green, a grassroots organization of volunteer landscape professionals with deep connections to the community, works to preserve and restore the character, culture and heritage of Altadena’s tree canopy and to prevent the removal of healthy, mature trees. It coordinates actions to preserve trees and shares resources with residents. Its events calendar also lists the 106th anniversary lighting of Christmas Tree Lane, nearly a mile of giant deodar cedar trees, on December 5.

AltadenaWILD was founded by residents who value the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains for their natural beauty, native flora and fauna, and hiking, cycling and equestrian trails. Incorporated in 2023, the 501(c)(3) charitable organization works to give a voice to protecting local wildlands for future generations, and it has established a student ambassador program for public and private schools.

On-site parking at Odyssey’s main campus will be extremely limited. The lot at Odyssey South, 575 W. Altadena Drive, will be open, and organizers encourage parking near Loma Alta Park or the Altadena Community Garden and walking two to three blocks to the festival. Drivers may enter the main campus lot to load up trees.

The event is free to all.

ReGreen Altadena Community TreeFest will run on Saturday, November 7 at 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Odyssey School, 725 W. Altadena Drive, Altadena. For more information, visit https://www.altadenawild.org/stories-and-actions/regreen-altadena-community-treefest-2026. Admission is free.
