Pasadena Village to Host Free Medicare Primer Wednesday as Open Enrollment Nears

Pasadena Village says the session will walk through Parts A through D a month before Medicare’s annual sign-up window opens Oct. 15

Pasadena Village will hold a free public session on the basics of Medicare from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Village Office Community Room, 236 W. Mountain St., #113.

The program, Medicare 101, comes a month before Medicare’s annual Open Enrollment period, which runs Oct. 15 through Dec. 7 and is the window in which beneficiaries can change plans for coverage that generally begins Jan. 1, 2027. Pasadena Village limits attendance to 30 and listed 11 openings Tuesday morning.

Pasadena Village says the presentation covers the basics of Medicare, including what Parts A through D mean, and moves from there to contrasting plans, finding in-network doctors and facilities, reducing prescription drug costs, and enrollment. A question-and-answer period follows.

Pasadena Village describes the presenter, John Dickey, as a licensed independent broker. Federal rules require independent agents and brokers who sell Medicare plans to be licensed by the state, and plans and their representatives may not charge a beneficiary to process an enrollment. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services says renewal compensation to independent agents is generally half the initial payment in later years.
