Career Fair Puts Jobs, Resources Under One Roof
By ANDRÈ COLEMAN, Managing Editor

MINSK, BELARUS – 1 MAY, 2019: job fair, unemployed looking for a job
Free haircuts, manicures and workshops accompany hiring Thursday at Robinson Park
Job seekers can polish their résumés, meet prospective employers and even sharpen their look Thursday when a Pasadena career fair brings hiring opportunities, job-search help and free haircuts and manicures under one roof.
The Career and Resource Fair, hosted by Councilmember Justin L. Jones and the Foothill Workforce Development Board, will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Robinson Park Recreation Center, 1081 N. Fair Oaks Ave.
The event is designed to connect entry-level and experienced job seekers with employers across a range of industries while providing resources aimed at helping participants improve their chances of landing a job.
Several Pasadena departments and agencies are expected to participate, including the Pasadena Fire Department, Pasadena Police Department, Pasadena Library, Pasadena Transit, Pasadena Center Operating Company and Municipal Assistance, Solutions, and Hiring, known as MASH.
Job seekers will also be able to take part in professional development workshops focused on résumé writing, interviewing skills and job-search strategies. Workshops are scheduled for 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
Community organizations participating in the fair include the Flintridge Center, Shepherd’s Door and Pasadena Senior Center, providing attendees access to services beyond employment opportunities.
The fair will also offer free haircuts and manicures for participants, adding personal grooming services for job seekers preparing for interviews and other employment opportunities.
Walk-ins will be admitted beginning at 10 a.m.
“Today is about opening doors and investing in our community so that every neighbor has a real path forward,” said Jones. “Whether you’re looking for your first job, taking a next step in your career, or connecting with local resources, we have great partners gathered right here at Robinson Park. Come as you are, talk directly with the teams that are hiring, and see what’s possible.”
