Altadena Sheriff Station Capt. John S. Benedict taunts the crowd before getting his just desserts in the dunk tank at National Night Out at Loma Alta Park Tuesday night.
by Timothy Rutt Altadena’s National Night Out at Loma Alta Park Tuesday, Aug. 6, was part neighborhood picnic and part public safety fair. The picnic part consisted of potluck grub with the deputies cooking up hot dogs and hamburgers on their big portable grill. The sheriff’s station and related programs (VIDA, CERT, amateur radio) all had booths with brochures and people in uniform. All in all, it was a low-key party with a bounce house for the kids and a dunk tank to work out your issues of authority. More pictures after the jump.
- Information booths lined the sidewalks.
- The mounted posse held demonstrations, and lots of chances to pet the horses
- Deputy Greg Gabriel was King of the dunk tank.
- The Altadena Mountain Rescue Team was selling T-shirts. If you can’t stop ’em, sell T-shirts.

my kids had a great time. thx to the Altadena Sheriffs and volunteers.
I want whoever made those hamburgers to cook at my next barbecue.
