Bulgarini Gelato Summer Movie Night:   Kolya, the adorable and charming light drama of a Russian unexpected changing the course of the life of a “father.”  Oscar winner for best foreign film of 1996.  Movies are always free. Dinner will be offered – by reservation only – for $13.50, which will include a homemade pasta dish, salad, and a drink. Sunday, Aug. 4

Angeles Crest runners will continue to arrive at Loma Alta Park until the 2 PM, 33 hour cut-off time. Awards ceremony and party will be afterwards from 2-3:00pm.  Come down and welcome these tired women and men to Altadena!

Rubio Restoration: The Arroyos & Foothills Conservancy is looking for volunteers for “Rubio Restoration Day” on Sunday, Aug. 4.  The Conservancy recently acquired significant property in Rubio Canyon, and offers an opportunity to help restore the area and learn more about plants, both native and invasive.  Join AFC board member Tim Martinez for a day of invasive plant removal and habitat restoration. Learn to identify native California plants and their uses while removing invasive mustard and grasses from the beautiful, mountainous terrain. Meet at 1101 E. Loma Alta Drive at 9 AM, and the event runs until noon.  Be sure to pack water bottles and to wear long pants and work clothing. Co-op open house: Join the Arroyo Food Co-op Sunday, August 4 from 4-5 PM.  Tour the market at 494 N. Wilson Ave, Pasadena, meet your neighbors and find out how you can get involved! Also, a representative from Transition Pasadena will discuss the Placemaking Project they are leading to transform the Wilson Avenue side of the Co-op into a native and drought-tolerant garden.

Bad Role Models:  Polly Frost returns to Altadena in her one-woman show, “Bad Role Models and What I Learned From Them,”  5 PM at Webster’s Fine Stationers, 2450 N. Lake Avenue. Tickets are $15, and you can make reservations at by calling Webster’s at (626) 797-1135.  “Bad Role Models” will be performed on Sundays through August.

For those of you who have seen Brian Hughes play in the Amphitheater at Farnsworth Park, I know you will be there. For those of you who have NOT seen Brian play, you simply do NOT want to miss his performance!
