The house was packed at the Altadena Community Center Monday night for Altadena Heritage’s workshop on water issues in Altadena and the San Gabriel Valley.
The panel, from left to right: Chris Stone, Water Resource Manager and Angela George from the Watershed Division of Los Angeles County; Tim Brick of the Arroyo Seco Foundation and former chairman of Metropolitan Water District; and Rich Atwater, Chairman of Foothills Municipal Water District (FMWD).
The panel sketched some of the current water issues in the area and answered questions from the audience.

So, nothing of substance to report on, then? What are the water issues for our area? One question I’ve been meaning to ask my water company, “what is this $10 per month MWD charge now appearing on my bill?”. I only noticed it recently, so I think it is new. Regardless, what does it cover?
Water is a huge topic, and Altadena Heritage invited not only the speakers mentioned, but representatives from all the water companies serving Altadena, including Pasadena. All came, and were there to answer individual questions and weigh in on questions asked of the panel. We covered a lot of ground, and anyone who wishes to revisit the meeting can watch on the Arroyo Channel. They are editing now, and will let us know by the end of the week the broadcast times. We will inform the Blog and send an email with this info to all on our mailing list.
Since there is such interest (about 80 people attended) Heritage is considering having another meeting in which local water companies will be the panelists as a service to the community.
