Busy day, but finally had a chance to call the sheriff’s office — the incident at Altadena Dr.. and Page (which is next to Boulder Rd.) was reported as somebody with a gun, and revealed to be kids with a toy gun. Half a dozen units and chopper support? We’re scratchin’ our heads on this one.

Are you scratchin because kids were playing with toy guns or because the sheriff responded to a call of a person with a gun utilizing sufficient resources?
Did you ask the sheriff, when you called, how many calls they got, what they told, how many people were involved and etc?
I am scratchin my head over what’s wrong with responding to a possibly very dangerous situation with enough deputies to safely take care of the incident.

Attaboy, Bruce! But with your experience, would you — once the matter was resolved and it did turn out to be (small?) children with a toy gun — have a talk with the person who reported the incident? Or would you just roll regardless in every instance?
Several months ago my younger boy, Thomas, was house-sitting for our Pastor. Apparently Pastor didn’t tell his neighbors, and the neighbors called the Sheriffs when they saw this big tall Black guy in Pastor’s house. Thomas found out about it when he walked out to investigate some noise, and a galaxy of laser dots appeared on his torso. Fortunately, he kept his head, AND could prove he belonged there. But you can see how it could have turned out very badly if Thomas had freaked out behind having all those (real) guns pointing at him.
