St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Altadena is seling Christmas trees to help support the Bad Weather Shelter in Pasadena:

Saint Mark’s Episcopal Church in Altadena has supported the Bad Weather Shelter for several years by volunteering our time and preparing hot and nutritious meals, as many of you do each year. The past two years, we have also financially supported the Bad Weather Shelter through our Christmas Tree Ministry. We have raised about $2500 each year for the Bad Weather Shelter through Christmas Tree sales to the members of our congregation, families at our elementary school and friends. This year we have challenged ourselves to double our contribution to the Bad Weather Shelter.

Here’s how you can help:

• Buy a Christmas Tree for your home from www.SaintMarksChristmasTrees.org.   You pre-purchase a Christmas tree in early November and pick up your tree on Saturday December 7 between 8 and 11 am at Saint Marks Church 1014 E, Altadena Dr, Altadena CA 91001.  Or if you live nearby, for a small donation, we’ll deliver the tree to your house.
• If you do not need a tree in your home, you can donate a tree to a local family. We make all the arrangements with the Pasadena Police PAL (http://www.ci.pasadena.ca.us/police/pasadena_pal_program/) for a local family to receive your generous gift.  The proceeds from donated trees also support the Bad Weather Shelter.

An important word about the Christmas trees we buy:

• The trees are cut fresh and delivered to us two or three days later.  They are fragrant, fresh and full.  We always delight in the quality and appearance of the trees. These are not your corner lot trees that sit for weeks after cutting before they reach your home.
•  Some people worry about buying a tree they have not seen.  If you worry, come early at 8 AM on December 7 and select your tree from all the trees of the same size and type. Most likely you’ll find a better tree than you hoped for when you purchased it.
